Meet our graduates! One week ago (December 16th) twelve new students graduated from LINC NT’s fourth class of Fe y Finanzas (Faith and Finances) that we offer twice per year.

Fe y Finanzas is the only faith-based financial literacy curriculum written for the working poor. Through its focus on values and immediate application, it helps participants make realistic and effective changes in their lives. “Antonia doesn’t treat us like she has all this knowledge, but she treats us like real people,” one participant said. “We are figuring out these challenges together.”

Most of the students came from a new partnership with Metrocrest Family Services, and only one participant is currently a member of an evangelical Christian church. The students were amazed to see how their finances and faith can work together and were encouraged to think more seriously about what they believe.

Approximately halfway through the course the students are given an assignment to create a rhyme or poem that expresses their commitment to living a more simple life. Below is one couple’s poem translated into English (the Spanish version rhymes).

Time has passed and we haven’t saved a thing
Our kids have grown and so have our expenses

Here comes the time to spend
Because they want to go to school
And because we haven’t prepared
Now we’re very worried
But from now on
Thanks to Faith and Finances
But above all with God´s help
We will be able to move forward

Now we have to get to work
And start saving
We’ll look for coupons
And we’ll save a bunch
I’ll make my shopping list
And I’ll only buy what´s on it
No more chocolates or candy

In our home we have to save
Water, electricity and gas
We won’t go out for a while
Now that our goal is to see our kids graduate

Now I want to thank Antonia and Beto
For all their help and good wishes

Congratulations to our December 2015 graduates! We can’t wait to keep up with you and see what great things God does through you!

The LINC North Texas family wishes you and your family a wonderful Christmas! The gift of Jesus brings us great peace in the midst of turmoil personally and in the world. We can’t imagine the fear that Mary and Joseph felt when the angel told them to flee as refugees to Egypt to escape the massacre of young boys by Herod. In the midst of the birth of the King of Kings there was great turmoil, tragedy, and fear. The angel told them what the Scriptures tell us, “Fear not,” for the Prince of Peace has come. Maybe we can do the same: stop worrying, stop fearing, and enjoy the quiet peaceful assurances from the Scriptures. God is in control of all our personal issues and the rumblings of our world. Be at peace!

“I will never leave you or forsake you”  Matthew 28

“Nothing can take you out of the Father’s hand.”  John 10

“We are more than conquers through Christ”  Romans 8

“Be still and know that I am God.”  Psalm 42
